On the complaints of local manufacturers, Minister for Commerce Engineer Khurrum Dasgir had ordered the NTC to investigate about dumping of Sorbitol in the country. After investigation, it was proved that the local industry was getting affected due to the import of Sorbitol from India.

In August 2015, the government imposed duty on the import of Sarbitol from India for four months but after the completion of investigation the anti dumping duty had been imposed for five years.

Sorbitol is an industrial chemical which is used in pharmaceutical, cosmetics and textile industry. However there would be no duty on the import of Indian Sorbitol which would be used for export sector.
