Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled cloth

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated seven bales of foreign origin smuggled cloth worth Rs 295,000 involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 187,325.

Following information received through Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain, the intelligence team comprising Senior Intelligence Officer Zahid Saleem Mirza, Intelligence Officer Farzand Ali and sepoys Sajjad Ahmed and Khalid Ahmed conducted raid near Shah Kot Toll Plaza, Shiekhpura Road, Faisalabad and recovered cloth.

The team asked the accused persons named Muhammad Younas and Abdul Ghaffar to show the documents regarding its legal import but they failed to do so. Therefore, the customs officials seized the cloth under the Import and Export Control Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(1)89 and 178 of Customs Act, 1969.

The seizure report has been sent to adjudication for further legal action.
