KARACHI: A letter has been sent from the office of the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication to the FBR authorities in connection with shortage of staff, including upper divisional clerks (UDC), lower divisional clerks (LDC) and sepoys for the collectorate, it is learnt.

The sources informed Customs Today that the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-II is facing acute shortage of clerical staff which hampers the official working. “We have written a letter to the board authorities for the provision of staff to ensure smooth flow of work in the collectorate,” sources added. They further said that the MCC-Appraisement (West) and MCC-Appraisement (East) are feeding the Adjudication Collectorates with manpower.

“The MCC-Appraisement (West) has provided the manpower to the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I for ensuring smooth working, however; after the introduction of PaCCS, an automated system in the MCC-Appraisement (East), most of the working have been shifted to automation from manual and the Collectorate of Appraisement (East) has no such manpower.

They said that the current shortage of staff in the MCC-Appraisement (East) compelled the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-II to write a letter to the board authorities for ensuring the supply of the clerical staff to the adjudication authorities. It may be mentioned here that Prime Minister d Nawaz Sharif has made the announcement for conducting fresh recruitment in all federal government organisations, particularly in the FBR for filling up the shortage of manpower. The said policy of the federal government would certainly help in giving employment opportunity to the educated youth and also fill-up the vacuum in terms of manpower shortage.
