Germany tops EU countries in non-oil trade with Dubai

DUBAI: The value of Dubai’s non-oil trade with the European Union (EU) countries reached AED145 billion in the first nine months of 2015.

The emirate’s non-oil trade with the EU countries was divided between imports worth AED113bn and exports valued at AED7.1bn, while re-exports recorded a value of AED24.8bn.

Dubai Customs explained that Germany topped ​​Dubai’s partners from the EU with its trade value with the emirate amounting to AED33.4bn, followed by Belgium with trade at AED22.7bn, then the United Kingdom at AED22.5bn; Italy, AED16bn; France, AED15.3bn; Netherlands, AED7.9bn; and Spain at AED5.4bn.

Dubai’s imports from Germany accounted for 27 per cent of the emirate’s total imports from the EU countries, which amounted to AED113bn, reports UAE-based Aliqtisadi.

The emirate’s total exports to EU countries amounted to AED7.1bn, of which trade with the Netherlands amounted to AED2bn, followed by Germany at AED 1.1bn.
