FBR Chairman Nisar calls for broadening tax net to increase revenues‏

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Nisar Muhammad Khan expressed need to broadening the tax net to increase the revenues for economic stability and growth in the country.

“We are committed to simplifying tax system by adopting scientific and technical approach to broaden the tax-net,” adding, such methods will increase strength of the taxpayers.

While addressing a reception arranged by Anjuman-e-Tajran, Islamabad, he said that tax collection is necessary to manage the imbalance between the different classes in the society.

He said the country has required funds to develop health, education and communication sectors for the benefit of the common man.

The Chairman FBR said, without the tax collection and broadening the tax net, the government would not be able provide the resources to develop these sectors in the country.

He said, welfare state is only possible through the collection of taxes from all sections of the society according to their financial strength to invest these resources for the alleviation of poverty from the country.

The Chairman FBR said, when community does not pay taxes with honesty then state go for indirect and direct taxes.

He said that FBR announced the tax incentive scheme for the traders and simplified the procedure to facilitate them.

He said tax amnesty scheme aimed at enhancing the tax compliance to expand the tax base for the economic growth of the country.
