IHC issues notice to Customs Appellate Tribunal in references filed by two firms

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday issued notices to Customs Appellate Tribunal for appearing before the court as respondent in a couple of references challenging the tribunal’s decisions.

According to details, the court had asked the tribunal to appear, and respond, before the IHC bench on January 28. The court would hear two references on the day filed by M/s Shaukat and Sons Limited and M/s PKP Kandwari Limited.

Court notices state: “you (the tribunal) are hereby summoned to appear in this court (IHC) in person or by a pleader duly instructed and able to answer all court’s questions relating to the matter on 28/01/2016.”

The notice further cautioned that “in default of your appearance on the day before the court, the case will be heard and determined in your absence.”
