Coordination among officials necessary for good performance: Zeba Hai

ISLAMABAD: Model Customs Collectorate Collector Zeba Hai has suggested the officers to develop a better coordination with their staff to get better performance from them.

She was addressing on a farewell party arranged in her honour, as she is going for 104th national training. She said that officials should not scandalise the internal issues and problems of the department, as all appointments and decisions are made on merit. Equal opportunities should be given to juniors so they could prove themselves by making the custom department prestigious.

She said that the employees of the Islamabad Collectorate were like her family, adding that they were all hard workers.

The ceremony was attended by Customs-North Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira Habib, Additional Collector Headquarters Abdul Waheed Marwat, Additional Collector Ayesha Wani, Sharila Khan, Deputy Collector Shahid Jan, Deputy Collector Naveed Bagvi, Deputy Collector Ansar Anees, Deputy Collector Mian Masood, Investigation and Prosecution Superintendent Zargam Dil, deputy superintendents, inspectors and other staff members.

Collector Zeba Hai said that his staff remained always supportive to her and she also appreciated the officers, especially Sharila Khan, Ayesha Wani, Ansar Anees, Mian Masood, Shahid Jan, Khurram, Appraiser Ishtiaq, Superintendent Zargam Dil and Deputy Superintendent Saeed Ahmad for their well performance.

Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira said that luck worked for achieving higher post but the main thing what we have to face was managing the responsibilities according to the post. As a chief collector, concentration was put on meeting revenue target, improving management and on the welfare of the employees.

Praising the performance of Collector Zeba Hai, Additional Collector Abdula Waheed Marwat said that it was the first time that he worked under the supervision of a female and it remained quite pleasant. He said that as the collector she never interfered in the operational matters of the additional collectors and deputy collectors.

She made all appointments on the merit and always work for the welfare of the employees, as she never refused the promotion files of the employees, he said.

When she took over the Islamabad Customs on March 31, 2014, it was facing shortfall of 34 percent in revenue collection and there was only last quarter left to meet the target, Marwat said, adding that Collector Zeba Hai while showing exceptional performance not only achieved the yearly target but also surpassed it.

On the occasion, Customs Agents Association Vice President Akhtar Hussain Bukhari said that the collector always resolved the issues of agents on a priority basis and took the matters always seriously.

At the end, Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira presented him honorary shield and a bouquet of flowers on the behalf of customs staff.
