ISLAMABAD: The Federal Service Tribunal has reserved a judgement on an application filed by an employee of the Regional Tax Office Peshawar. The department had refused to promote the employee, Syed Sajjad Hussain, after he failed to pass the promotion examination.

An FST bench comprising of Nazir Saeed, Syed M Hamid and Javed Iqbal Kasi heard the case and reserved the judgement.

The appellant had challenged the RTO’s decision for not promoting him to higher scale, pleading that the promotion examination could not be a criteria for promotion of experienced employees who have been working with the department for years.

However, the department counsel argued that department had adopted a new policy of granting promotion to its employees after taking promotion examination.

The counsel also stated that the appellant had filed two tests out of three held for promotion. Hence, his departmental plea for promotion could not be materialized, the counsel added.

The bench reserved decision of the case after hearing arguments from both sides.
