ANF seizes Rs2,326m drugs including 303kg heroin as regional heads meet

RAWALPINDI: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has held Force Commander Conference at its Headquarters, which was chaired by ANF DG Major General Khawar Hanif.

The conference was attended by Commanders of all Regional Directorates and Senior Staff Officers. At the onset of conference, review of the ANF performance was analysed and futuristic targets were set forth. During the conference, aspects of enforcement, intelligence, assets investigation, prosecution, and other financial/administrative matters were deliberated upon.

Meanwhile, the ANF field operations continued as usual and total seven countrywide operations were conducted at Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Mianwali, Peshawar, Karachi and Qilla Saif Ullah, recovering 303.47kg heroin, 305kg charas and 1kg methamphetamine worth Rs2,326m. During operations, the ANF also rounded up seven drug traffickers and seized six vehicles.

As per details, the ANF Quetta during operation and seized a Toyota Corolla Car No W-8879 from Killi Dilsoor, Tehsil Muslim Bagh, Dist Qilla Saifullah and recovered 298Kg heroin concealed inside the car. However, the persons on board had already fled from the crime scene taking advantage of the mountainous area. As per initial information, heroin was to be transported to Karachi for smuggling abroad.

The ANF Peshawar conducted an operation near Sarband Nalla, Sarband Road, Peshawar, and seized 273kg charas concealed at a place beside the Nalla in 26 plastic bags. As per initial reports, the place was being used as cache site and the drug was to be transported to Punjab.

An ANF Rawalpindi team seized a Truck No C-2520 at Jand-Kohat Road, near Jand, District Attock and recovered 30kg charas concealed inside the stepney of the vehicle. Two drug smugglers namely Darya Khan r/o Khyber Agency and Nasir Khan r/o Peshawar were taken into custody on the spot along with vehicle.

Another ANF Rawalpindi team in pursuance of information arrested a drug trafficker Waqar Azam r/o Kohat and local recipient Muahmmad Waseem r/o Rawalpindi at Muree Road, Rawalpindi. The operation resulted in recovery of 2.2kg charas and seizure of a car and a motorcycle.

Meanwhile, the ANF Rawalpindi airport team intercepted a passenger Muhammad Rasheed r/o Sheikhupura at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, and recovered 1kg of Ice (Methamphetamine) tactfully concealed in his bag. The accused intended to board for Riyadh by PIA Flight No PK-753.

The ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Mehran Car No RE-776 near Shell Petrol Pump, Sargodha Morr, MM Road Mianwali and recovered 3kg heroin concealed inside the car. A drug trafficker Hayat Khan r/o Mardan was apprehended on the spot. After initial investigation, on the pointation of the accused, a drug recipient Aurangzeb Khan r/o Mianwali was also arrested along with 2kg heroin from nearby area while riding on a motorcycle, which was also seized.

In Karachi, an ANF team intercepted a parcel at TCS office, DHA, Karachi and recovered 475 gram heroin tactfully concealed in ladies shirts. The parcel was booked from TCS Office, Quetta and was destined for UK. As per initial reports, it was being despatched by a person namely Hassan Khan r/o Loralai to a recipient namely Haider Zaman residing at Birmingham, UK.

All cases have been registered at the ANF police stations and further investigations are under progress.
