FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO), Mainwali, has seized 10-wheeler Hino truck bearing Registration No LTS-9197. The estimated value of the smuggled truck is Rs 3 million involving duty and tax worth Rs 1.31 million.
Sources told Customs Today that the ASO received information via Customs Collector, Faisalabad Dr Zulafqar Ali Chaudhry that smuggled Hino truck is being brought into the country without paying custom duty and taxes.
Following the information, the ASO team comprising Superintendent Naeem ur Rehman, Inspector Safdar Ali, Asif Hussain, Munir Ahmed, sepoy Rasool Faiz Ahmad, sepoy Mohyuddin and driver Muhammad Nazim intercepted the smuggled truck near Musa Khail stop.
After examining the documents, the ASO team seized the truck under section 3(1)3 of import and export control act 1950 punishable under section 156(I)89(i) of the Customs Act 1969.
The ASO team also arrested the accused driver namely Attaullah and the owner of the truck, who is identified as Haji abdullah resident of Urbaseen Tehsil Bori District Loralai.
