Customs Adjudication Collector Tahir orders to impound truck

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Collector Tahir Majeed, while issuing an Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation, ordered to impound the vehicle after it proved smuggled one.

As per details, the Customs Intelligence intercepted a Hino Ranger Truck bearing Registration No. SEB-146 in the vicinity of Jaranwala and asked the driver, Ghulam Sahbir son of Ghulam Haider, and resident of Toba Tek Singh to produce the documents showing the legal import of the vehicle.

But the driver could not produce the same on which the officials impounded the vehicle and referred the case to the adjudication.

The collector heard the case where the customs presented evidence, while the respondent failed to prove legal import of the vehicle. Therefore, the adjudication declared the confiscation of the vehicle as lawful under clause 89(1) of the Section 156 of the Custom Act, 1969 with SRO499 (1).
