Waqar Ahmad takes helm of Internal Audit-IR as DG

ISLAMABAD: Waqar Ahmad, a BS-21 officer of Inland Revenue Service, has assumed the charge of the post of Director General, Directorate General of Internal Audit (IR).

The officer, pursuing the Board’s Notification No. 0305-IR-I/2016 dated 06.08.2016, relinquished the charge of the post Member (Administration), Federal Board of Revenue (HQ), Islamabad, with effect from February 08.

Waqar Ahmad also served as Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue at Regional Tax Office, Lahore; Chief Commissioner-IR, Regional Tax Office, Gujranwala and Chief, Inland Revenue Operations, Federal Board of Revenue. His duties were to supervise application of tax law and implementation of revenue measures and to look after the taxpayers issues.

The officer did LLB (Hons), Law form University of London (2008–2013), got certificate in Advance Management from National University of Singapore (2008–2008) and also got certificate in Transfer Pricing from OECD Multilateral Tax Center, Ankara, Turkey (2009). He was interested in understanding the dynamics and impact of transfer pricing on developing countries tax revenues. The officer got certificate in Basic Agriculture Policies from Asian Productivity Organisation, Tokyo, Japan (2007). He also got certificate in Income Tax Policy from IMF Training Institute, Washington D.C, USA (2000).
