ISLAMABAD: The services trade deficit during first six months (July-December) decreased by 31.79 percent as compared to the same period of last year.
The services exports witnessed a decrease of 5.38 percent while the import fell by 14.30 percent during first half of current fiscal year.
According to data revealed by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the services trade deficit reduced from $1.491 billion in July-December, 2014-15 to $1.016 billion in same period of current fiscal year.
The services exports during the period under review decreased from $2.924 billion in first six months of the year 2014-15 to $2.767 billion thus showing a decrease of 5.38 percent.
Similarly the imports also fell by 14.30 percent from $4.415 billion to $3.783 billion. On month-on-month basis the services trade deficit decreased by 8.17 percent from $321 million in November 2014 to $295 million in December, 2015.
The exports jumped by 33.77 percent from $296 million in November 2015 to $396 million in December 2015 while the imports also witnessed an increase of 11.94 percent as it increased from $617 million in November, 2015 to $691 million in December, 2015.
Likewise on year-on-year basis the services trade deficit witnessed an increase of 20.9 percent as it was recorded at $2.44 million in December 2015.
The services exports and imports in December 2015 witnessed a decrease of 14.29 percent and 2.12 percent respectively as compared to the same period of last year.
The services exports during December, 2014 were recorded at 462 million while the imports during same period were registered at $706.01 million.
