SIALKOT: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has decided to establish counters and check posts on main points of Grand Trunk (GT) Road.
Sources told Customs Today that ASO will establish the check points to to control smuggling from Afghanistan, tribal areas, Russia and China.
Sources said the officials of department have started paper work for this purpose. Customs authorities will submit the summary to government for approval within some days. The department will also appoint new educated persons according to the policy of FBR and honest, unbiased and noble persons will be designated on counters/chowkis.
It is pertinent to mention here that ASO has launched a campaign against selling of smuggled goods and ASO officials are raiding in markets while checking all shops. ASO officials are also checking vehicles which are coming from Peshawar, Quetta and Islamabad etc.
