Sialkot Excise seals 550 properties, impounds 3,100 vehicles for non-payment of taxes

SIALKOT: The Excise and Taxation Department has sealed 550 properties and impounded 3,100 vehicles and also issued notices to 3,700 owners of vehicle including 1,700 government vehicles for non-payment of token tax.
Sources told Customs Today that the department has sealed about 550 properties in Sambrial, Pasrur, Daska and other tehsils of Sialkot due to non-payment of property tax for the financial year 2014-2015 whereas properties of influential people are also included in the sealed properties.
Sources said the department has also impounded 3100 vehicles including motorbikes and rickshaws because these vehicles were running on roads without getting registration number from department and non payment of token tax.
Sources further added that these impounded vehicles are releasing after allotment of registration number and payment of token tax. Sources said the department has issued notices to 3700 owners of various vehicles including 1700 government vehicles and informed higher authorities of said department that the token tax should be paid within 10 days otherwise the department will bound to take action and impound the vehicles as per law.
