Faisalabad Adjudication declares truck’s confiscation as lawful

FAISALABAD: Custom Adjudication Additional Collector Saima Aftab issued Order-in-Original (ONO) in favour of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation as it declared the confiscation of a truck as lawful.

As per details, the Customs Intelligence intercepted a Hino truck bearing Registration No. B-370 model 1998 for checking and asked the owner of vehicle named Muhammad Jamil to produce the documents regarding customs clearance but he could not do the same; therefore, the truck was impounded under Section 168 of the Custom Act, 1969

Later, the case was forwarded to the adjudication where owner of the vehicle could not defend the allegation as he did not have documents regarding its customs clearance. On the other hand, Senior Intelligence Officer Tahir Iqbal appeared before the court representing the Customs Intelligence and asserted that the seized vehicle fall under Section 2(s) of customs act and the documents produced were fake and bogus.

The Custom Adjudication after hearing the arguments ordered to impound the vehicle under Section 156(I) 89 (i) of the Customs Act, 1969.
