Collector Customs Adjudication-I for speedy disposal of pending cases

KARACHI: The newly appointed Collector of Customs Adjudication-I Abdul Basit Chaudhry has directed the authorities concerned, including additional collectors, deputy collectors and assistant collectors, to ensure speedy disposal of cases, which are in pending in the Collectorate, since long.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Abdul Basit, through a letter, has asked the authorities concerned to dispose of the cases before reaching to their expiry date of 90 or 120 days.

The Collector of the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I has also conducted a meeting of the officers of the Collectorate to review the current status of the cases pending in the Collectorate.

The sources informed Customs Today that around 190 cases are being kept pending in the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication-I.

“The cases which are in pending are linked with the Customs Collectorate- Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation-FBR, Air Frieght Unit (AFU) and Model Customs Collectorate- Preventive”, sources added.

The sources further informed that the billions of rupees tax evasion through mis-declaration and under-invoicing are involved into those cases.

The speedy adjudication of those cases would certainly enhance the revenue generation and also improve the working of the Collectorate.
