Faisalabad Customs Intelligence impounds vehicles, auto parts worth Rs 5.5m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation registered four cases of smuggling and confiscated smuggled items worth Rs 5.58 million involving duty and taxes amounting to millions of rupees during first two week of February, 2016.

The Customs Intelligence team following the directions of Additional Director Azmat Tahira conducted various anti-smuggling activities and impounded three vehicles and auto parts. The officials impounded a Toyota Rava Jeep bearing Registration No. MC-844 worth Rs 2 million, a Toyota Vitz Registration No. APM-181 worth Rs 600,000, Toyota Corolla Registration No. ARB-687 worth Rs 1.5 million and auto parts worth Rs 1.48 million.

As the accused persons could not show any evidence regarding the legal import of items, the customs seized the items under Section 156(1)89 and 90 ibid read with Section 3(1)(3) of the Import and Export Control Act 1969.

The Customs Intelligence team comprising Senior Intelligence Officer Zahid Saleem Mirza, Mian Muhammad Yousaf and Intelligence Officer Farzand Ali, Sepoys Tajamal Hussain and Muhammad Musadiq Ahmad participated in the raids.
