PESHAWAR: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to elevate the powers of regional chief collectors to deal with some complicated issues on their own choice to save valuable times of the regional traders as well as regional customs houses.
Reliable source said that the decision has been taken due to late response of the Federal Board Revenue in important cases and this delay of response affected trade activities in respective regions.
Owing to this delay response from the central offices some time it force the traders to keep their imported goods in store house with heavy charges besides paying detention charges on it.
In this connection the Federal Board of Revenue has received a proposal to empower the regional chief collectors in certain important issues to save the time of the traders as well as regional customs houses.
It is pertinent to mentioned that most of the issues related to trade and custom duty are pending due to late response of the federal departments, which not only affected the performance of the regional offices but also hurt the traders and attached bodies.
