Country’s mineral resources being excavated illegally: ministry

KABUL: The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP) on Friday expressed deep concerns over the illegal excavation of minerals and other natural resources in different parts of the country.

MoMP Spokesman Muhauddin Noori told Pajhwok Afghan News the ministry has learned that illegal armed people and insurgents in insecure areas of the country were involved in demining of natural resources.

He said the halt of illegal excavation of natural resources was the responsibility of security and intelligence agency. Muhauddin said that the law and order forces of the country should exposed the groups involved in the illegal excavation of natural resources.

Afghanistaninfo-icon is a country rich in natural resources and minerals. Valuable minerals such as Ruby, Emerald, Black Agate, Granite, Turquoise, Tourmaline and other could be found in parts of the country

According to experts Afghanistan is historically known as natural resources rich country, but the riches have yet to be excavated.
