Hyderabad, Gwadar collectorates seize 84,500 liters of diesel in 28 days

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Hyderabad and MCC-Gwadar have seized around 84,500 litres of smuggled Iranian diesel at various check posts in the last 28 days, said Enforcement-South Assistant Collector Ali Ejaz.

Talking to Customs Today, Ejaz said that the MCC-Hyderabad has seized 56500 litres of Iranian diesel during routine checking at different check posts while the MCC-Gwadar has seized 28,000 litres of smuggled Iranian diesel during strict surveillance at different check posts.

He said that the authorities concerned of the Enforcement Collectorate have given clear instructions to the MCC-Hyderabad and MCC-Gwadar to ensure proper surveillance of Iranian diesel/petrol.

A few days ago, Enforcement-South Chief Collector Nazim Saleem had told Customs Today that all collectorates of Enforcement-South have put effective deterrence on check posts in order to restrict smuggling of Iranian petrol/diesel into the country.

The chief collector had also lauded the efforts of customs officials in taking effective measures to curb smuggling of Iranian diesel/petrol.
