LAHORE: The Customs officials have foiled a bid to smuggle five kilograms of heroin during routine search at Wagah border. The estimated value of the heroin is Rs 50 million.
Sources told Customs Today that the Customs officials intercepted a wagon No 23651 owned by Pakistan Railways which was carrying cement to India via Wagha border. The authorities recovered five kilograms of heroin during an inspection, which was skilfully concealed inside the brake cylinder of the vehicle.
The authorities seized the packs of heroin and arrested the driver and guard who were identified as Imran Ali and Kamran Ashraf respectively.
The Customs authorities started further investigation into the matter to trace all those railway officials involved in drug smuggling to India.
