ADB to financially support $200m KP roads rehab project: Khattak

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has discussed rehabilitation of highways in the province with Country Director of Asian Development Bank Warner.

ADB Country Director Warner, along with Senior Transport Specialist Pawan Wirki, called on the CM at Pakhtunkhwa House Islamabad. Advisor to Chief Minister for C&W Akbar Ayub, Additional Chief Secretary P& D, Secretary C&W, and Managing Director of Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority were also present on the occasion.

The CM directed the concerned authorities to complete all the arrangements regarding rehabilitation project of roads network in the province within three months. The chief minister said the project’s estimated cost of $200 million would take place on the ground from January 2017 and Asian Development Bank would provide financial assistance in this regard.

On this occasion different highways of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa total length of around about 500 km were identified for rehabilitation on priority basis.

Meanwhile, the construction of out ring road from Chamkani to Budhber estimated cost of Rs12 billion was also decided. Financial assistance for this project would also be provided by the Asian Development Bank.

The chief minister while talking on the occasion said that the projects would not only improve the quality of roads but would also boost up the socio-economic development.

He also made it clear that it was the priority of PTI led provincial government to bring about real change in the lives of poor people. He maintained that all available resources are being utilized in an efficient manner in this regard.

On the occasion authorities of Asian Development Bank lauded the developmental strategy of the provincial government and assured that financial assistance for the projects would be provided in time.
