Belarus’ oil import 1.8% increase in 2015

WASHINGTON: In 2015 Belarus imported 1.8% more Russian oil in comparison with 2014, with the total oil import going up to 22.9 million tonnes, BelTA learned from the website of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus. In 2015 Belarus purchased $5,668 million worth of oil or 74.3% of the sum Belarus paid for imported oil in 2014.

Prices for imported oil averaged $247.3 per tonne, up from $338.9 per tonne in 2014. In 2015 Belarus imported 1.6 million tonnes of oil products, 3.9 times as much as in 2014. The import of oil products totaled $512.6 million. Prices for imported oil products averaged $310.2 per tonne, down from $665.7 in 2014.

Russia accounted for 98.4% of the total import of oil products. In 2015 Belarus exported 1.6 million tonnes of oil, 0.1% down from 2014. Buyers paid nearly $579.3 million, virtually half of what they paid in 2014. The average price for exported oil was nearly halved in comparison with 2014 and reached $358.6 per tonne ($695.1 per tonne in 2014). All the oil was exported to Germany.

Apart from that, Belarus exported 16.851 million tonnes of oil products (22.4% up) worth $6,830 million ($9,853 million in 2014). The top buyers included the UK (46.2% of the exported oil products), Ukraine (19%), and Netherlands (17.3%). Russia received 903,000 tonnes of Belarusian oil products.
