RTO-I recovers Rs 118m more by attaching Lesco’s bank accounts

LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office-I (RTO-I) recovered Rs 118 million more by attaching the nine bank accounts of Lesco, which is involved in tax evasion to the tune of Rs 700 million.

According to the details, the RTO-I has earlier recovered Rs 200 million from its bank accounts and now totally it has recovered Rs 318 million, while efforts are underway to recovery remaining taxes.

Sources said that the LESCO was receiving the sales tax on electricity bills but not depositing it to the FBR. The department issued notices to the company for depositing the sales tax but it did not do the same. By taking legal action, the FBR froze its accounts in different banks and recovered Rs 318 million.

The RTO-I has recovered amount from the banks, including National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Wapda House branch, Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Peco road branch, Bank of Punjab Egerton road and others.
