Hyderabad ASO seizes smuggled Iranian diesel, non-duty paid truck

HYDERABAD: The anti-smuggling organization (ASO) has confiscated 5,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel and a Bedford truck worth Rs 600,000 involving duty/tax  187,000 during a crackdown

Sources told Customs Today that Additional Collector Customs Hyderabad Omar Shafique received information regarding the smuggling of Iranian diesel. Following the information, the additional collector formed a team comprising deputy superintendent Sikander Akbar Phanwar, inspector Khair Muhammad Pathan, inspector Syed Momin Shah,  sepoyes and driver  to foil the smuggling bid.

The ASO team intercepted Bedford  truck which was plying on road with registeration number near Bypass and recovered  5,000 liters of Iranian diesel. The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle to produce legal documents regarding possession of diesel and truck but he failed to provide any relevant documents.

The ASO  team   confiscated   the  diesel   beside  impounding  the truck Bedford   under  the  prevailing  customs law.
