Rs165.64 million tax evasion: Collector Adjudication penalises 9 importers

 LAHORE: The Lahore Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) adjudication collector has passed orders-in-original (ONO) against traders and companies for their alleged involvement in tax evasion.

Customs Today has received details of nine such cases.

According to details, the adjudication collector, in the final hearing of the cases, found that International Connecting Traders, Basfa Textile, Nisar Spinning, Shakeel Nasir, Babar Badshah, Sapphire Textile, CA Textile, Indus Dyeing and Rana Traders were involved in taking undue benefit of SRO.

Documents showed that International Connecting Traders was allegedly involved in Rs 33.6 million tax evasion on the import of fresh betel leaves, Basfa Textile evaded Rs 3.58 million tax by violating the SRO, Nisar Spinning violated the SRO (customs law) by evading Rs 3.93 million tax, Shakeel Nasir evaded Rs 46 million tax on import of betel leaves, Babar Badshah was involved in the currency case worth Rs 53.4 million, Sapphire Textile violated the SRO and took benefit of Rs 4.6 million, CA Textile evaded Rs 3.43 million, Indus Dyeing  took benefit of Rs 3.5 million by violating SRO and Rana Traders evaded tax worth Rs 13.6 million in betel leaves import.

As a whole, the adjudication has decided the nine cases worth Rs 165.64 million and penalised the tax evaders.

The MCC Preventive Lahore had detected the cases and forwarded them to the adjudication for legal proceedings.
