FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has impounded a Toyota Crown car worth Rs 1.2 million involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 1.09 million.
Following the special instructions of Customs Intelligence Additional Director Azmat Tahira, a team raided near Kashmir Bridge Canal Road, Faisalabad and intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. LOV-3870.
The team asked the driver named Javed Anjum to show documents regarding its customs clearance but he could not show any evidence. The accused also stated that he had purchased the vehicle from Sheikh Babar Ijaz.
The officials impounded the vehicle under Section 3 (1) 3 of Import and Export Control Act, 1950 punishable under Section 156 (1) 89 of the Customs Act, 1969.
The Customs Intelligence team comprising Senior Intelligence Officer Zahid Saleem Mirza, Intelligence Officer Mansoor Nasir and Sepoys Khalil Ahmad and Muhammad Sajjad participated in the raid.
Further investigation is in progress and seizure report will be submitted in due course of time.
