KARACHI: The Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has started a crackdown against tax defaulters.
Sources told Customs Today that the department has sealed many properties due to tax evasion and also issued penalty notices to those who are avoiding paying tax.
Talking to Customs Today, Property Tax Section Incharge Shabir Soomro said that the department has issued notices to more than 70 property owners in different areas of Karachi, including Liaqatabad, Karimabad, Ayesha Manzil, Ghareebabad and Yasinabad. The Sindh Excise is expecting to collect Rs 30 million from the tax evaders.
The excise department has set 5th March deadline for submission of tax returns, if the tax defaulters failed to clear their outstanding dues even after passage of deadline, their properties will be sealed without any further notice.
