The move comes a few days after the prime minister returned from Doha after signing a long-term deal with Qatar for the import of liquefied natural gas. The deal will see Qatar export of liquefied natural gas up to 3.75 million tonnes a year. The deal was signed on the first day of a two-day visit to Qatar by Nawaz Sharif.

MOUs for enhancing bilateral cooperation with Qatar in Radio and TV, education, health and academic research were also signed by both the sides. Pakistan is facing a severe shortage of natural gas, both for its electricity generation and industrial use.
