Fine recovered from birds’ smuggler

LAHORE: The Wildlife Department with the cooperation of Pakistan Customs took action against Syed Rifat Hussain for importing 39 budgerigars without permit from Britain to Lahore and received Rs 22,000 as departmental fine.

Meanwhile, special teams constituted for checking illegal smuggling and hunting of birds and Honorary Game Warden Punjab in a joint action also received Rs 70,000 as departmental fine from six persons in few days back.

According to the details, Punjab Honorary Game Warden Shah Rukh Butt and officers of Wildlife Department during joint action at Behri Jangle Shakargarh received Rs 60,000 from five persons named Zubair Ali, Shakeel Ahmed, Haji Irshad, Ilyas and Ishtiaq for illegal hunting, while Rs 10,000 as departmental fine from Muhammad Ramzan involved in illegal hunting of birds through net.
