FBR directs RTOs to speed-up tax collection process

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed the Regional tax Office to speed up the process of tax collection to meet the revenue target set for fiscal year 2015-16.

Regional Tax Office-III Commissioner Malik Mumtaz informed Customs Today that the RTO-III is also taking strict measures against tax defaulters. He said that the RTO-III is preparing a final list of those defaulters who have been avoiding to pay taxes for the last few months despite many reminders. He said that the RTO-III is scrutinizing all the data of such defaulters.

In reply to a question Malik Mumtaz said that RTO-III issued notices to 3000 tax defaulters. He said in response to these notices RTO-III collected a revenue of Rs 30 million till 29th February, 2016.

He said till the end of current Fiscal Year at least 10 thousand new tax payers will be added in tax net and due to this RTO will generate extra revenue of Rs 220 to 350 million respectively.
