FBR collects Rs 220m from 2,500 tax evaders during recovery campaign

SIALKOT: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has jazzed up the pace of its ongoing campaign against tax evaders and has recovered Rs 220 million from 2,500 small and big tax defaulters in Gujranwala Division.

Sources informed Customs Today that the FBR has also issued final recovery notices to the defaulters, advising them to ensure early payment of their outstanding arrears.

According to senior FBR officials, the FBR has also formed six special teams to taking action against those who purchased luxury vehicles, bungalows, commercial and residential plots as well as apartments without paying registration fee.

The officials said that the tax evaders would be brought under the tax net. They said that the FBR teams have also got the complete records of the said defaulters and their properties from the revenue department, excise and taxation department and other housing societies , seeking the details of the properties, new vehicles,  commercial plazas, markets, marriage halls , shops, godowns, factories and agricultural lands’ sellers and purchasers in Gujranwala Division, in this regard.
