Interior Ministry orders strict vigilance to curb smuggling of illegal items

KARACHI: The federal government has directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to take effective and practical measures in order to curb smuggling of contraband items through different routes into the country.

Sources told Customs Today that the Federal Interior Ministry has asked the FBR to take effective measures and evolve a strategy against smuggling of contraband items.

The sources informed that the Federal Interior Ministry has given one month deadline to present a documented draft before the Federal Interior Ministry.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Pakistan Customs has already sent a summary for purchasing latest equipment for curbing smuggling activities which are being carried out on different borders.

Sources further revealed that the Federal Interior Ministry has also asked the Customs authorities to keep strict vigilance at Afghan Border in connection with smuggling of illegal items.
