MULTAN: The Directorate of Custom Intelligence and Investigation has seized a huge quantity of smuggled items and vehicles worth Rs 72.191 million in February.
According to details, anti-smuggling operations were conducted by various teams of Customs Intelligence and Investigation in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sadiqabad.
The special Customs teams seized various smuggled goods which include foreign origin cigarettes, cloth, electronics goods, tyres, and other miscellaneous items . The Customs Intelligence also seized 21 non-customs paid vehicles of new and old models.
The seized vehicles include Toyota Corolla X, Hino Ranger Trailer, Toyota Fielders, Vitz, Premio, Suzuki Alto, Toyota Passo,Land Cruiser etc. during various activities of the Customs anti-smuggling unit.
During the operation huge quantity of smuggled foreign origin cigarettes and others items were seized in February. Customs have formed 24 seizure cases in the month of February during extensive anti-smuggling activities of the Customs department against non-custom paid vehicles and goods. Customs have formed 16 seizure cases in Dera Ghazi Khan location after effective crackdown against smugglers in the region, five cases in Multan and only three cases in the Sadiqabad region
Anti-smuggling operations were conducted under the guidance and supervision of Additional Director Nisar Ahmad and Director Saud Imran with new strategy to curb smuggling in the region and Director General Imtiaz Ahmad.
Due to extensive campaign against non-customs paid goods and vehicles customs authorities have protected millions of rupees with the actions of anti-smuggling activities in order to save the resultant loss to national economy.
