Nisar directs chief commissioners to adopt strict measures to achieve targets

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan has directed the chief commissioners to adopt strict measures to meet the revenue collection targets. He said that the officials who have failed to achieve the targets should be replaced with competent officials.

He stated this during his visit to the Regional Tax Office (RTO) and the Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU) in Islamabad along with Inland Revenue (IR) Operations Member Dr Muhammad Irshad.

The FBR chief also held meeting with RTO Chief Commissioner Noushad Ali Khan and LTU Chief Commissioner Sajjad Ali Khan, commissioners, additional commissioners and others. The chairman reviewed the performance of the field formations and directed them to improve their performance.

Following the probability of not meeting the target for third quarter, the chairman and member are monitoring the situation closely and taking required steps to meet the target.

On inquiry, FBR chairman was informed that few traders have taken benefit of the tax amnesty scheme. It was also informed that awareness camps have been established at all market of Islamabad to persuade the traders.

Nisar Khan also asked about the measure taken for broadening the tax net and directed them to bring the potential taxpayers into tax net. He also said that suitable policy was made to settle tax cases pending with tribunals and courts as early as possible.
