Brisk shipping activity observed at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the Port Qasim (PQ) where eight ships were allotted berths Wednesday, a statement said Thursday.

The ships allotted berths included CV CMA CGM Thames, CV Mearsk Skarstind, MV An African, MT Manas, MT Maran Gas Troy, MT Gas Sellan, MT Shalamar, MT Gas Sellan and MT Liberty-N Scheduled to load/ offload.

Containers, 9,023 tonnes Cement, 9,999 tonnes palm Oil, 143352 Cubic
meter LNG, 69,999 tonnes Furnace oil and 5,643 tones LPG were allotted
berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multipurpose
Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, Fotco oil
Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Sui Southern Gas LPG Terminal
respectively on March 9, 2016. 
     Meanwhile five more ships carrying Containers, Palm oil, Furnace
Oil and chemicals also arrive at outer anchorage of PQ during last 24
hours.
     High berth occupancy was observed at the Port at 73% on Wednesday
where a total of eleven ships namely C.V CMA CGM Thames, C.V Mearsk
Skarstind, C.V Maersk Denver, M.V An African, M.T Manas, M.T Maran Gas
Troy, M.T Gas Sellan, M.T Shalamar, M.T Gas Sellan, M.T Liberty-N and
M.V Oceanis were occupied at PQA berths to load/ offload Containers,
Cement, Palm oil, LNG, Furnace oil and LPG and Soya Bean Seeds
respectively during last 24 hours.
     Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 154,494 tonnes,
comprising 113,873 tonnes imports and 40,621 tonnes exports, inclusive
of containerized cargo carried in 4,125 containers (TEUs) was handled
at the Port during last 24 hours.
     LPG  carrier `Gas Sellan' sailed out to sea on Thursday morning,
while two more ships, Containers Ship `CMA CGM Thames' and edible oil
tanker `Manas' are expected to sail on same day afternoon.
Outer Anchorage: Following ships are currently at outer anchorage.

     Three ships C.V Mataquito, C.V MSC Rachele and M.T Argent Fresia
carrying Containers and Phosphoric Acid are expected to take berths at
Container Terminal and Engro Terminal respectively on March 10, 2016,
while two more Container Ships `Uni Florida' and `Palena' are due to
arrive at Port Qasim on Friday.
