ROME: The Italian Business Association is to launch its Ghana chapter on Wednesday, March 16, in Accra. The launch, which is expected to be attended by ministers, chief directors, diplomats and business associates among others, is aimed at creating a platform for cultural, economic and trading opportunities between Italy and Ghana.

Nii Amaa Ollennu, the Vice President of Italian Business Association of Ghana (IBAG), said the association was registered and incorporated in June 2015, and was opened to all companies and individuals, adding that the event would be used to outdoor the association’s constitution and its aims and objectives.

Mr Ollennu said the Association intended to organise interviews, events, workshops and seminars on specific sectors of the economy by bringing experts to the table, while facilitating business-oriented capacity building programmes for members to enable them to advance in their various business endeavours.

“We are also focused on advisory services for Ghanaian companies with business interest in Italy as well as Italian companies that are planning to invest in Ghana by sharing local knowledge of the territory acquired over the years to help new investors understand the Ghanaian/Italian market.

“We hope to create cultural exchanges between Italy and Ghana and undertake various projects and activities as part of IBAG’s social responsibilities,” he said. IBAG, a non-profit, non-political association which supports free expression of views and opinions would collaborate with other associations and to become the voice of the business community in dealing with government institutions and bodies as well as networking and lobbying.

“We call on all who desire to invest, build and strengthen business relationships with Italian companies in Ghana and Italy to join the association to help attain strong business connections,” Mr Ollennu said.
