KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Quetta, has recovered 18,000 liters smuggled Iranian diesel during a crackdown. The market value of the seized diesel is Rs 7.5 million.
Sources informed Customs Today that the Customs authorities also seized 50 packs of non-duty-paid cigarettes in another raid. Sources said that the Customs intelligence has received credible information that a huge quantity of Iranian diesel is being smuggled. A Customs team was constituted which intercepted an oil tanker near Dargi and recovered the smuggled diesel.
The same team raided a shop and recovered 50 packs of non-duty paid cigarettes. After seeing the Customs team, the owner of the shop fled away. The Customs team seized the goods and forwarded the cases to the Customs adjudications.
