Customs submits challan in smuggling case to Customs Court

LAHORE: The Customs Investigation and Prosecution has submitted a challan in a plastic material smuggling case to the Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling.

The suspect in the case named Shaukat Ali was arrested by the Customs Intelligence authorities from Lahore while they recovered a huge quantity of smuggled Iranian plastic raw material from his warehouse near Shahdara.

After arrest, he was produced before Special Judge Chaudhary Ameer Muhammad Khan who sent him on judicial remand. Later, the court granted him bail against surety bonds.

It was accused by the customs that the accused person had smuggled the plastic material from Iran. The value of seized item was estimated at Rs 19 million.

A case was registered against Shaukat Ali under Section 2(s), 16, 156, (1) and 178 of Pakistan Customs Act, 1969.
