Customs Intelligence and Investigation Constable Mehr Ali has retired and a few others will also retire soon.

The officials are waiting for the implementation of decisions from the Establishment Division to infuse fresh blood in the department.

Sources said the biggest issue the department is facing is a severe shortage of manpower.

According to the Establishment Division’s rules, the department itself would hire below Grade-16 officials. However, officials above Grade-17 will be hired by the public service commission.

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation additional director has shown concern over the shortage of manpower.

The department has three divisions under its jurisdiction – Dera Ghazi Khan, Sadiqabad and Multan.
