Customs directed to examine import/export containers same day

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed the Customs officials to complete the examination of 80 percent containers of import/export the same day when they arrived at the port.

The customs has been directed to conduct the instant examination of the containers and under these directions it will be necessary to examine the containers carrying single type items within 24 hours. The containers carrying multi-type items will be examined within 48 hours.

It was also directed to de seal the containers b 7 am and get ready for examination till 9am. Officials said that the board has issued these directions following the complaints of importer and exporters regarding the delay in examination of consignments.
