Power Ministry suspends six Sepco officials on public complaints

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Water and Power has suspended six officials of Sukkur Electric Supply Company (Sepco) on public complaints.

According to the ministry’s spokesman, an FIR has also been lodged against 15 consumers of the Luqman Sub Division, Sepco under the newly amended anti electricity theft law. He said that on pubic complaints and continuous follow up by Federal Complaint Cell (FCC), six employees of Sukkur Electric Supply Company were suspended, adding that further disciplinary proceedings against these officials has also been initiated.

The names and designations of the suspended official of SEPCO are: Ghulamullah Solangi, SDO Operations, Lal Bux Noonari, LMII, Mokhumuddin Shaikh, MSII, Feroze Ali Abro, LM-I/LS, Irshad Ahmed Memon, LM-I, and Zulfiqar Ali Junejo, LS-II.

It may be noted that under the amended anti electricity theft law penalties have become very stringent and these can lead to arrest without warrant, up to 7 years of rigorous imprisonment and up to Rs 10 million fine.
