Sara-e-Muhajir ASO seizes smuggled black tea, tyres, tubes

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sara-e-Muhajir has intercepted a Toyota Hilux bearing registration No. LI-7279 loaded with foreign origin black tea and tyres worth Rs 596,000,  involving duty and taxes of Rs 130,347.

Sources told Customs Today that the ASO received information through Collector Dr Zulafqar Ali that Toyota Hilux vehicle, loaded with smuggled items, was brought into the country without payment of customs duty and taxes. Following the information, the ASO team intercept the vehicle near police check post Dajil district Bhakkar.

The ASO asked the driver and his colleague identified as Abdul Majeed son of Abdul Rehman and Abdul Hamid Khan Burki son of Muhammad Aslam Khan to produce legal documents regarding possession of the items, but they failed to provide any relevant documents. The ASO team comprised Chaudhary Sardar Muhammad (Superintendent), Muhammad Mansha, Muhammad Asif, Azhar Hussain Jafri (inspector) Riasat Hussain (driver), Sher Ahmad, Faiz Ahmad, Muzamal Hussain, Said Rasool, Muhammad Amin, Riaz Ahmad (sepoys).

The ASO after seizing the items forwarded the case to the Customs adjudication.
