ASO Sargodha impounds iron padlock worth Rs 6,33,150

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization ( ASO ), Sargodha, has confiscated foreign origin iron padlock in different sizes worth Rs 633,150 involving customs duty and taxes worth Rs 71,558.

Sources told Customs Today that the ASO received information through the Deputy Collector Falik Shair about some smuggling attempts . The authorities formed a raiding team comprising Bashir Hussain and Bashir Ahmad (inspectors), and Abdul Hameed, Safdar Hussain, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Mansha (sepoys).

The ASO team found 24 cartons of iron padlock lying on the side of the road in front of Al Islam Goods Sargodha (truck adda) which were smuggled into the country without payments of customs duty and taxes. One person who was identified as Muhammad Arshad son of Niaz Khan present on the spot. The ASO team asked the accused person to produce any legal documents regarding the possession of the goods but he failed to provide any relevant documents.

The ASO team seized the goods and forwarded the case to the Customs adjudication.
