Empress Market to be restored to its historic position: Ebad

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, reviewing the project of Empress Market renovation, said that the historic market would be restored to its previous position.

According to a statement, the governor said that the development projects would help improve the flow of traffic in Sadar and adjoining areas. He also announced that a shuttle service would also be initiated in Sadar for the convenience of the shoppers.

The governor accompanied by senior officials visited the Lucky Star where he was briefed in detail. He directed that the development projects be completed within the stipulated period.

Ebad also instructed that the on-going works at Daudpota Road be speeded up. He also called for improving the water supply and sewerage system so that water could not accumulate on the roads.

The governor said that Empress Market and area around it would be beautified. It would be closed for the traffic for the convenience of the pedestrians. The first phase of this project would be completed by July this year with an expenditure of Rs 158 million.
