Commerce Ministry extends last date of application up to April 30 for commercial arms importers

KARACHI: The Federal Ministry of Commerce has extended the last date for submission of applications by commercial importers of arms and ammunition for quantity based authorization (QBA) up to April 30.

In a notice, the ministry said that all commercial importers of arms and ammunition, including Value Based Authorization (VBA) holders that the last date for submission of applications to the Home Department/Islamabad Capital Territory/Federal Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) Secretariat has been extended up to April 30, 2016.

According to the earlier notification of the ministry, no VBA would be valid for opening of letter of credit or execution of contract.

The notification said that the QBA, in respect of Non-Prohibited Weapons (NPW) and Prohibited Weapons (PW) or ammunition thereof, shall be issued for a period not exceeding three years.
