Petrol price hiked by Rs1.50 to Rs 64.27/litre

ISLAMABAD: After a partial hike in international fuel prices, the government has increased petrol price by Rs 1.50 per litre for the month of April.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) had recommended Rs5.64 increase in petroleum prices. But Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif decided to only partially raise prices of petrol while approving Ogra’s proposal on raising prices of high speed diesel.

However, prices of HOBC, kerosene and light diesel oil were kept unchanged. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced that petrol price would be enhanced by Rs1.5 to Rs64.27 per litre and high diesel oil by Rs1.4 to Rs72.52 per litre.

The Ogra had proposed to increase petrol price by Rs3.09, HOBC by Rs4.67, kerosene Rs5.64, high speed diesel rs1.4 and light diesel oil by Rs4.91 per litre. However, the government maintained the prices of three oil items and enhanced prices of petrol and diesel.
