Peshawar Customs striving to fairly collect duty/taxes on import: Qurban Ali

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar is making all efforts to fairly collect the customs duties and taxes on imports according to prescribed rates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA, as it is the largest collectorate of country and contributed handsome revenue throughout year.

This was stated by Peshawar Customs Collector Qurban Ali Khan, adding that the collectorate collected Rs 5235.66 million as customs duty up to March 31 of current fiscal year 2015-16. It also surpassed the assigned target of Rs 4612.86 million by collecting Rs 622.8 more revenue.

During third quarter (January-March), the collectorte generated revenue in shape of custom duty to the tune of Rs 1550.57 million against the target of Rs 1424.63 million and collected Rs 622.8 more revenue by surpassing the target.

“We can say that our field staff is specialized now to detect smuggled goods and deserve appreciation from public and media,” the Collector said while he was talking to Customs Today on Thursday.
