Tax evasion: Customs Court grants bail to directors of Nimra Textiles Mills

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has granted pre-arrest bail to two directors of a textile mills in a tax evasion case.

Earlier, the Customs Court had issued non-bailable arrest warrants against the director of Nimra Textile Mills.

As per details, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Inland Revenue (IR) Faisalabad, while scrutinizing the record, found that the directors of Nimra Textile Mills were allegedly involved in tax evasion and registered a case against them.

The officials summoned the directors to cooperate in the investigation but they did not appear before the officials.

Later, the officials approached the court seeking arrest warrant against the accused directors where the court after hearing the arguments issued non-bailable warrants.

Both directors named Arif Mehmood Qureshi and Muhammad Saqlain, then moved to the court for their pre-arrest bail which now has been approved by the court. Nimra Textile Mills has its setup at Sheikhpura road Faisalabad.

It is learnt that both accused are also involved in using fake documents of Ministry of Commerce for taking undue benefits.
